Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month.  Throughout our nation’s history, members of Hispanic descent have played an integral role in shaping America’s history, influencing the culture and weaving the intricate fabric of our society.  The impact Hispanics have made on the nation’s economy is astounding.  Here are a few facts highlighting their significant contributions.

  • According to the US Census, Hispanic owned businesses are growing at double the national rate.
  • 89 percent of Hispanic entrepreneurs started their business to provide financially for their families; and 31 percent wanted to provide jobs for their family members
  • 70 percent of Hispanic business owners plan to pass their business on to their family members
  • The Hispanic population is the largest growing minority group in the country
  • According to Nielsen, Hispanic buying power is projected to be $1.2 trillion for 2014
