Tallahassee, FL. – The Small Business Development Center at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (SBDC at FAMU) is inviting businesses to apply to become part of the Growth Acceleration Program (GAP), a program created by a $2.6 million grant received by the Florida SBDC Network (FSBDCN). The program is designed to provide professional consulting services to small and medium-sized enterprises with the main goals of achieving economic growth, as well as, job growth and retention.
GAP consultants are tasked with providing high-level business consultation services in the areas of strategic business planning, marketing, financial analysis, access to capital and cash flow management. All GAP clients will be provided an in-depth business assessment and a written report summarizing observations and recommendations for implementation. Qualifications for GAP include: goal of growth; in operation for at least three years; annual revenues of $500k to $10 million; and five or more employees.
“The School of Business and Industry eagerly embraces the opportunity to assist small businesses through the implementation of this program,” said Shawnta Friday-Stroud, Dean of the FAMU School of Business and Industry. “The Growth Acceleration Program is a vital resource to help small businesses not only survive, but thrive. The health and wealth of our small businesses impact our entire community. Our staff at the Small Business Development Center can further their mission of providing technical assistance and support services to our local business owners.”
The Growth Acceleration Program (GAP) at FAMU’s SBDC is a FSBDCN state-wide initiative. The funding comes as a key provision of the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, which provided $50 million in grants to SBDCs across the country. The FSBDCN is a partnership program funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and local and regional host partners, including Florida’s state universities and colleges.
